Mac & iOS text replacements everywhere

Mac & iOS text replacements everywhere

I have a ton of text replacements on my Mac and iPhone. It’s super handy. But also very frustrating when some apps don’t support them (i.e. some developers don’t use Apple’s built in functionality)…

The goal of those for me is, for example, to type ## and to have it converted automatically to my mobile phone number. Similar with the shortcut bankch: instead of having to type my 24 digits IBAN bank number every time someone need to wire me money, this is being converted auto-magically.

When some apps don’t support this though (yes, you, Slack 🙄), you can easily enable it by opening Terminal, and typing this:

defaults write -g WebAutomaticTextReplacementEnabled -bool true

For some apps, I had to log out and log in again. And boom, no more frustration.
