{"id":29,"date":"2012-10-09T20:24:05","date_gmt":"2012-10-09T19:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tempdetheux.food.blog\/2012\/10\/09\/reset-the-ecu-of-a-370z-harder-than-cheating-on-an-arcade-console\/"},"modified":"2019-07-19T17:09:45","modified_gmt":"2019-07-19T15:09:45","slug":"reset-the-ecu-of-a-370z-harder-than-cheating-on-an-arcade-console","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arnaud.detheux.org\/blog\/reset-the-ecu-of-a-370z-harder-than-cheating-on-an-arcade-console\/","title":{"rendered":"Reset the ECU of a 370Z: harder than cheating on an arcade console"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><p>Resetting the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Engine_control_unit\" title=\"ECU on Wiki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ECU<\/a> of your car might be useful if you mod it in any way, if you just bought it second hand and want it to \u201clearn\u201d your driving style quickly or even if you experience weird average consumption.<\/p>\n<p>You usually have two options: removing the negative plug of your battery (but also losing some settings on the on-board computer) or by a tricky plugs &amp; pedals games.<br \/>\nLet\u2019s hit the right-left-left-triangle-circle-left-right-right sequence&nbsp;\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>With accelerator pedal fully released, turn the ignition switch \u201cON\u201d (= press twice on it) and wait 3 seconds<\/li>\n<li>Fully depress and release the gas pedal 5 times (quickly and firmly)<\/li>\n<li>Wait 7 seconds and fully depress the gas pedal and keep it for approximately 10 seconds until the SES light starts blinking (depending on your country, you will see either the \u201cservice engine soon\u201d light or a light with an engine icon)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"341\" data-height=\"259\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-images-1.medium.com\/max\/800\/0*CvF8idZKk7p5JSJ4.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully release the gas pedal (while the SES light is still blinking)<\/li>\n<li>Wait for about 10 seconds<\/li>\n<li>Fully depress the gas pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds<\/li>\n<li>Fully release the gas pedal (the SES light is still blinking)<\/li>\n<li>Turn ignition switch to \u201cOFF\u201d position and now you can start the car<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After a reset, you <em>should <\/em>drive reasonably to avoid weird results in the first 50 or so kilometres.
